The repair and replacement of portions of the historic 125-year-old California state capitol were necessitated by the damage done when an 18-wheel truck was purposely crashed into the front of this building. The project required repair of the granite exterior, several rooms, including the Senate Chamber, and the majority of the basement. The work included hand-shaped granite, custom decorative plaster and special painting. To match the existing stonework, granite was found at Folsom Prison and sent to Minnesota for fabrication before it was returned for installation.
